À propos de cette revue

Praxis: The Work-Based Learning Journal is a bi-monthly, peer-reviewed, open-access publication dedicated to advancing Work-Based Learning (WBL) as a transdisciplinary field of study and system of recognition. Published by the Council Advancing Work-Based Learning (CAWBL), Praxis explores the epistemology, ontology, and reflective practices that shape WBL as a global learning commons.

The journal is structured around three foundational tenets of WBL:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Competency-Based Education (CBE)

  • Heutagogical Practice

Each fiscal year includes three core issues and three themed special editions dedicated to these tenets. Contributions may include empirical research, practitioner inquiry, system design artifacts, policy reflection, interviews, and field-based evaluations. The journal welcomes work from credentialed professionals, researchers, institutional partners, and contributors in both formal and informal settings.

Editorial and Peer Review Approach

Praxis uses a fully open peer-review model, aligned with its values of transparency, reflection, and contributive epistemology. Reviewers are named with consent, and review comments may be published as part of supplemental material. This approach supports shared learning, practitioner voice, and ethical knowledge production.

Open Access and Copyright

Praxis is a diamond open-access journal. There are no article processing charges (APCs) or access fees. All content is published under a Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Authors retain moral rights and may distribute their work with proper citation and assigned identifiers.

Indexing and Archiving

Articles are assigned DOIs through CAWBL’s Crossref membership, ensuring global discoverability and metadata permanence. Praxis also uses CAWBL’s internal WBLNS (Work-Based Learning Numbering System) to structure and track contributions. The journal is hosted on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and will be archived in LOCKSS/CLOCKSS as applicable.

Sponsorship and Ethics

Praxis is sponsored and operated by the Council Advancing Work-Based Learning (CAWBL), a federally incorporated Canadian not-for-profit organization. The journal reflects CAWBL’s public-benefit mission to build a global infrastructure for WBL that recognizes learning through contribution, reflection, and relational context.
